Mums across the UK are achieving both personal and financial success by running their own award winning creation station franchises
The Creation Station inspires children’s imaginations and is the UK’s first and most successful franchised arts and crafts activity franchise.
With a UK market sector of over eight million children and an increased demand for quality educational children’s arts and crafts experiences, The Creation Station is one of the fastest growing franchised businesses, with 28 franchises awarded in the first six months of 2011 alone.
MODEL
The successful franchise model was established by mum to three Sarah Cressall in response to the identified gap in the market, and also to provide a flexible work/life balance around her own young family.
The Creation Station franchise provides an exciting portfolio of:
• Award winning arts and crafts classes for 6 months to 11-year-olds.
• Arty Party birthday entertainment.
• Event activities.
And now over 45 Creation Station franchise owners are achieving not only financial success, but also a great work-life balance.
New mum Carly Miller was made redundant when she was on maternity leave.
She explains: “I was unsure what to do about going back to work, but then I looked at the possibility of investing in a franchise. I realised it would be a brilliant way of earning money, plus I could have the freedom to work in a way that suited me and still have time to spend with my daughter.
“I did some research and really liked the look of The Creation Station. I knew there was a huge demand for these activities, as there wasn’t anything like it in my area because I had tried to find art and craft activities for my daughter. The variety of classes, parties and events offered lots of scope for me to run my own successful business.”
After her training, which Carly says was excellent, she was soon ready to build her business. “Very quickly my classes filled up and I now have waiting lists - many of my customers started in my very first week,” says Carly. “The party business continues to grow, with over eight bookings every month. I am recruiting staff to help meet the demand, and head office have really helped me with this.”
INSPIRING
Carly has also been booked to run her inspiring activities at Chessington World of Adventures, baby and toddler shows, nurseries, children’s centres, corporate family fun days, weddings and council events.
“Eight months on and I have already made a return on my investment,” she says. “I continue to receive loads of support from head office and the other franchisees. I absolutely love running my own business, as it gives me the opportunity to earn a living out of doing something I love.
“I was a bit nervous about starting the franchise, as I had never done anything like this before. The professional image of the franchise has made a huge difference in getting my bookings and gaining contracts. The website is so easy for people to find and to contact me directly from. We all have a live, up-to-date calendar on our page, which makes it really easy for customers to know what events are happening in their area.”
Carly adds: “Having worked full-time previously, I sometimes can’t believe I am running such a successful business that gives me so much time with my daughter. I couldn’t have imagined I would be doing all the things I have been doing and having such fun too.
“My 14-month-old daughter comes to all my classes and I also have time for us to have our own one-to-one time too.”
